Create Tamil Naming Ceremony Invitation Online

A name is the first gift parents give their child. Sometimes it comes from the kula deivam, sometimes from a grandparent, sometimes from a Tamil word you have loved for years. Whatever the story, the day your baby receives that name deserves a card as special as the name itself.

On Invitation Bazaar, you can create a பெயர் சூட்டு விழா அழைப்பிதழ் right from your phone. Type in English, see it in Tamil, add your baby's photo, and download a card that's ready for WhatsApp and printing.

Peyar Soottu Vizha - The Story Behind the Day

In Tamil homes, the naming ceremony is a warm family affair. Many families hold it between the 11th and 30th day after birth, often on a date fixed by elders or the family priest. The father usually whispers the chosen name into the baby's right ear, and elders bless the child one by one.

On the same day, many families also place the baby in a decorated thottil (cradle) for the first time. Elder women sing thalattu, the traditional Tamil lullabies, while gently swinging the cradle. In many families, the thai maaman, the baby's maternal uncle, has a special role and brings gifts for the little one. Because the naming and cradle rituals happen together, people use "Naming Ceremony" and "Cradle Ceremony" for the same function.

Choosing the name itself is a big discussion. Some families go by the nakshatra letter, some name the baby after the kula deivam or a grandparent, and many young parents today look for pure Tamil names with beautiful meanings.

Pick a Design Mood

Instead of scrolling through endless templates, start by deciding the mood you want.

Temple and Tradition

Kolam patterns, kuthu vilakku, mango leaf thoranam and a Pillaiyar or Murugan at the top. Best for families who want the card to feel like a traditional function invitation.

Silk Border Classic

Rich borders in maroon, green and gold that remind you of a Kanchipuram saree. Elegant and festive, and loved by grandparents.

Soft and Modern

Pastel shades, clean lines and simple Tamil fonts. Perfect for young parents who like a calm, minimal look.

Photo First

Your baby's photo takes centre stage, either in a round, square or rectangle frame or as the full background, with the text neatly around it.

Playful and Cute

Baby elephants, stars, clouds and the thottil drawn in a cartoon style. Fun for kids and great for WhatsApp sharing.

Build Your Card, Piece by Piece

Think of your invitation as a few simple parts. Our editor lets you handle each one easily.

The Heading

ype "peyar soottu vizha" in English and it turns into பெயர் சூட்டு விழா. Add a pillaiyar suzhi (உ) or "சிவமயம்" at the top if your family uses it.

The Name

Make it the biggest thing on the card. Pick from 50+ Tamil and English fonts and choose a colour that stands out from the background.

The Photos

Upload as many baby photos as you like and choose round, square or rectangle frames, or set one as the background. Drag them wherever they look best.

The Details

Date, day, time, venue and the name of the hosts. Every text box can be moved anywhere on the card, so you're never stuck with a fixed layout.

The Decorations

On premium templates, add stickers of Gods like Pillaiyar and Murugan, cradles, flowers, fun baby items and emojis.

The QR Corner

Also on premium templates, turn any link into a QR code. Use it for the Google Maps location of the hall, an RSVP form, or a live video link for relatives abroad.

The Download

Download an HD image for WhatsApp or a print-ready PDF.

Free vs Premium Template - Decide by Your Function Size

A small family function at home? A free template is usually enough. You can edit all the text, use any of the 50+ fonts, change colours, move everything around, and download in HD or PDF without a watermark.

A bigger function at a hall, with many relatives travelling? Premium makes life easier. You get extra text boxes to add the thai maaman's or grandparents' names and lunch timing, a QR code so guests reach the venue without calling you, and the full sticker collection to decorate the card.

Mixed Family? Make a Second Card in Other Language

Tamil families today often have relatives and friends from many backgrounds, especially in cities like Chennai and Bengaluru. You can make the same invitation in another language in a few minutes.

Before you know it, your baby will turn one. When the first birthday, or ஆண்டு நிறைவு, comes around, you can explore our birthday templates to make Tamil Birthday Invitation card.
